8th Grade Peer Leadership
Students enrolled in the 8th Grade Peer Leadership class gain knowledge and skills for building relationships with fellow students. Through counselor-led instruction, students are able to identify and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills necessary to maintain positive peer relationships. Among topics explored are the concepts of active listening, conflict mediation and problem-solving, positive and negative aspects of peer pressure, and how personal responsibility relates to long and short range life and career goals. These peer leaders practice the elements of successful group interactions by participating in a variety of roles within the school community including working one on one with students in the classroom.
