Back to School 26-27

We hope you and your family enjoyed a relaxing and memorable summer. Our staff has been hard at work preparing for the return of our amazing students, and we are excited to welcome everyone back for another great year. As we get ready to begin the 2026–2027 school year, please take note of the important information below:

ParentSquare
ParentSquare is the platform used by GCPS to communicate with families throughout the school year. This is also where you will acknowledge orientation agreements sent by GCPS starting on July 21st.  Please make sure you read through each document and sign off that you have read it. Click here to access more information about this tool and how to activate your account.

ParentVUE

ParentVUE is the platform used by GCPS to allow each parent to access grades, schedules, and much more from a smartphone. Please download the ParentVue app if you have not already done so.

Fees

In MyPaymentsPlus, you will find the contributions for this school year including connections classes, technology, clinic, etc (available starting July 21st). There is also a class fee for field trips and special events. Instead of asking parents to pay for field trips that take place at school and off-campus throughout the year, we collect a class fee at the start of the school year. This fee will cover the trips and special events for the grade level this school year. Thank you for your financial support of these programs.  You can also use MyPaymentsPlus to pay for student meals and other activities.

Supply Lists

We have generic supply lists for each grade level posted on the school website. Teachers may add specific items for their class, but the general list is a great starting point. Feel free to bring some of the bulky supply items with you to Open House. Please remember due to our Evolv weapons detection system, do not bring large scissors or metal utensils to school.

 Open House

We will host Open House for all grade levels on Friday, July 31st. Below are more details for the day:

  • Hours are 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
  • Students can access their schedules using StudentVUE in their student portal starting the morning of Thursday, July 30th.
  • Report to homeroom first to complete paperwork and pick up a paper schedule.
  • Visit all classes and teachers.
  • PTSA will have a membership table and spirit wear available for purchase.
  • Transportation representatives will be in the cafeteria with bus route information and times (Parents can also access bus information through ParentVUE).
  • Cafeteria representatives will be available to answer meal questions.
  • Walker pass applications can be completed in the cafeteria for those students who wish to walk home from school.
  • School supplies can be dropped off with your teachers.
  • Parking will be available in the front parking lot and the lower parking lot off West Price Road. We will also have a shuttle bus running from Gwinnett Church during the hours of 9:00 am-1:00 pm (please park in the Red parking lot).  The shuttle will drop you off and pick you up at the front door!

First Day of School
We are excited to welcome all students back to school on Wednesday, August 5th! Returning seventh and eighth-grade students should bring their school-issued Chromebook and charger on the first day, fully charged. Sixth-grade students and any students who are new to NGMS will receive their Chromebooks during the first two days of school. To support daily learning, all students should bring their Chromebook to school fully charged each day.

We are looking forward to an outstanding school year and are excited to see you at Open House! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We can’t wait to partner with you for a successful 2026–2027 school year.

Sincerely,
Sheri Gilbert
